Hallo,
Betriebssystem: Fedora 8, Postgres 8.3.3 manuell installiert
su postgres
/home/dat/pg833/bin/pg_ctl -D /home/dat/pg833/data
liefert /home/dat/pg833/bin/pg_ctl keine Berechtigung.
Das Verzeichnis /home/dat/pg833/bin hat postgres als Besitzer
In der pg_hba.conf steht
host all all 127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255 trust
host all all IP-Adresse 255.255.255.255 trust
In postresql.conf steht
listen_adresses = ‘*’
pg_hba.conf und postgresql.conf stehen im Verzeichnis /home/dat/pg833/data

Darf postgres auch Dinge im Verzeichnis ausführen?

als root erhalte ich:
pg_ctl: cannot be run as root

Hallo,
ich hatte mir selbst ein Bein gestellt.
/home/dat ist ein Sambaverzeichnis, dass nur eine bestimmten User kennt.
Mit /home/pg833 läuft alles einwandfrei

Fein. Falls Du das Data-Dir von PG via SAMBA mountest, könnte das allerdings das nächste gestreckte Bein sein.
